About Mustang
Mustang is an ancient forbidden kingdom, bordered by the Tibetan Plateau and sheltered by some of world's tallest peaks, including 8000-meter tall Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. It covers an area of 3,573 km2 and has a population (2011) of 13,452. The name "Mustang" is derived from the Tibetan word meaning, "Plain of Aspiration". Much of the history of Mustang is about legends rather than documented facts. However, it is believed that Mustang or the Kingdom of Lo was once a part of Ngari area of Tibet and a loose collection of feudal estates. Though the people of Mustang live within the geographic boundaries of Nepal, their history is also tied to Tibetan religion and culture, geography, and politics.
Agriculture and animal husbandry are the main occupations.
Traditionally, Mustang District has been divided into four social and geographical regions. From south to north they are: Thak Satsae (also known as lower Thak Khola), Panchgaon (upper Thak Khola) and Baragaon and Lo Tsho Dyun or (also known simply as Lo)
Baragaon sub-region now consists of 19 main villages , The central town of Baragaon is Kagbeni, Tibetan dialect (Pheke) prevails here, though the people of Tangbe, Chhusang, Tetang, Tsaile and Ghyaker also speak Seke. There are appro. 2000 Seke speaking people.

Twenty-one year ago, Mustang was a very remote with no acces of transportation, communication and education facilities having low economic background.
At that time missionaries from India came to pokhara with the vision of serving tibetan people and they recruited around 40 children from upper mustang providing free education, food and shelter. Later, many Missionaries from India, Europe and UK came to pokhara and started home for hundreds of poor mustange children.
Along with the free education they also grew up the children with the doctrine of christ. Slowly the message of christ has been spread among mustange community and some children parent also accepted in christ. Now all the children are graduated,some are in christ and many are nominal christian. As a result of count there was also dozen of Seke children at different home but now only 2,3 are in christ.
